Though you might feel that your chompers are invulnerable multitools that can accomplish any task, we disagree. At Samuel Yee DDS INC, we’ve seen enough patients to know that using your chompers for anything other than eating food can result in impaired or lost teeth and oral emergencies. Pay attention for the following things and defend your teeth with a small bit of preventive effort:
Playing contact sports without a mouthguard. Football, wrestling, and lacrosse can be enjoyable, but chest pads aren’t the only protective gear you should be wearing while playing. Without a mouthguard, playing these sports can do serious harm to your chompers. Ensure you’re wearing a great mouthguard before playing in any contact sports.
Wearing mouth jewelry. Mouth jewelry like lip rings or tongue piercings can cause fractured or chipped teeth if you’re not wary while eating or speaking. If you wear mouth jewelry, deliberate on taking it out during your meal sessions; we don’t want you to suffer the hurt of a chipped tooth!
Opening things with your mouth. The desire to open things with your teeth can be strong, but we kindly ask that you exercise patience! The time you keep opening a package or a soda bottle is not worth the time you’ll spend fixing broken teeth. Be patient and wait until you can find the proper tool for the job.
If you have injured your teeth, we can help! Dental bonding, fillings, crowns, and veneers can help make your mouth look like new again. Give us a call at 949-831-3111 to pencil in an appointment with our Aliso Viejo, California team. Dr. Samuel Yee DDS and the staff at Samuel Yee DDS INC will be pleased to see you.
